Final update
I finally made it I've practically reached the end of my journey with this game. I can’t judge it objectively, but I honestly believe that the final battle in Walkman Fighters is the biggest and best thing I’ve ever created. I really encourage everyone to check it out and share your thoughts! Maybe I’m not cut out to be a writer, since the story doesn’t make much sense 😅, but it seriously made me a bit emotional realizing this adventure is coming to an end. The whole game has 16,500 lines of code, out of which 5,300 are rhythm maps lines, and I’ll try to create a cool ending after the boss fight, maybe some artwork and a few story-related details to wrap it all up. ⚠️ One important thing: Keep in mind that since this is the last boss, it’s not meant to be an easy fight. So if you haven’t warmed up with the earlier bosses, you might have a tough time finishing the level. 😅 I didn’t want to increase the player's HP, because I still want the fight to be at least a bit of a challenge. ;D To check out the boss fight, just click on the golden crown! 👑 Let me know what you think of the Final Battle! 😊

Well, I beat the game! I have to say, your passion for a good story and characters in a game shines through. This is only a simple little mobile game in a genre that isn’t even your thing. I’d love to see what you can do given some more time and on a project that you’re really passionate about. Everything about this game is super polished and I think you did great with the presentation overall. Critically speaking, after beating the creator I just have to say, I think the swipe notes are the weakest part of the game. At least through my experience on mobile. They just don’t feel satisfying to hit and if there are quick direction changes, it becomes unnecessarily difficult. But, it’s a small complaint overall. Well done, Silas! Now put out your strategy game.
God, thank you so much for this feedback! Seriously, barely anyone comments on my game, so I couldn’t even tell if people actually enjoyed it or if I just messed it up completely. Maybe they’ll make the next contest about RPGs or roguelites ;D Or give us a longer break so I can finally finish my game Solo Grinding ;D I had no real idea for a rhythm game the only ones I even know are Osu and Beat Saber, so my game have simple mechanic About the swipes, yeah, I honestly don’t know how to handle them better. If the game was just all taps, it’d be boring i guess. But if I mapped everything perfectly to some bass beat, then the rhythm maps would either be way too easy… or way too fast. I feel like finding that right difficulty level is really tough you never know how someone else will play. For me (and I suspect for you too), even the final level wasn’t that hard ;D I’ll keep thinking about how to fix that problem but right now I don’t really see a good solution ;X Thanks again for the feedback!
Hey, I’m right there with you. You put all your time and effort into making something and then you’re stuck in a void wondering if anyone else thinks it’s any good. Upvotes and “Nice game” are something, but I always feel starved for feedback, even if it’s negative. In fact I’d rather people point out my mistakes more than the things I did right. I also agree there’s no easy fix to directional swipes, but I suspect that the answer may lie in some kind of feedback, like a spark trail under your finger when you swipe. Haven’t quite figured it out myself and that’s why I left directional feedback notes out of Pulsar. Also, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a simple mechanic; it’s the thing I wrestle with every single time. I try to tell myself “stop overcomplicating things”, but easier said than done.
Actually, adding a swipe cut animation is a good idea it’s just a matter of making it smooth, like 9 frames, which means 9 additional assets. The problem is, my game is already so overloaded with graphics and music that on my phone it sometimes takes 6–10 seconds to load game, even on my own Wi-Fi or LTE. I’m currently trying to figure out how to speed up that process xD But I think I’ll give that idea a try thanks! ;)
I forgot to remove the requirements for the final boss fight and went to sleep xD It's unlocked now, sorry! :D
